Ok so yesterday i bought my first discovery its a 1994 two door TDi and i love it.
Well i did till the clutch started slipping on the way up a hill by the time i pulled up the clutch smelled fried and it wouldnt disengage/engage not sure which. i can start the car and select gears fine (it starts in gear with clutch out) but when the clutch pedal is released nothing happens
So i know very little about clutches so im not sure where to go from here as i will have to fix it myself because it is not covered under warranty apparently
Anyway does anyone know somewhere i could take it in southern adelaide it cant go far as it needs to be towed or could someone help me maybe find what the probem is, i am quite capable with the spanners and should have very little problem fixing it but just dont know where to start

Try bleeding the system (same as brakes),
if not you may have worn the last bit of the clutch.
check for travell from the slave cyl to the fork (at the bell housing)
you will need someone to put there foot on the pedale while you look and see how much travell is in the fork.

You could try Triumph Rover Spares at Lonsdale. They do repairs as well as parts.
yeah i was looking at their website today i might have to go down there tomorrow its currently at the dealers mechanic so waiting to see if he is going to pay for it to get fixed, hopefully he does but as it isnt covered under warranty i dont see why
On that note does anyone know about the used car warranty in South Australia alot of people are telling me it should be covered but the paperwork i go with the car say it isnt because it has done over 200,000kms, not that it really matters, i just want my new car back

as a minimum the friction plate is fried if youve butchered it to the point of no drive its probabley taken out the flywheel and pressure plate as well...
If your lucky its a blown rear main seal which means youll get away with just a quick sand of the pressure plate and the fly wheel, a new friction plate and fixing the leak or its the throwout bearing stuck.
