    Uh Oh! 'Shudder' while accelerating.

    Hi folks.

My vehicle has developed, what can be best described as, a shudder under load.

I suspect drive line rather wheels/tyres/balance etc.

Only started today and is more aggressive on inclines.

The vibration comes-up through the steering wheel and then the whole vehicle joins in.

I hope it's prop. shaft uni's or similar. Probably fronts?

Gear box shifts fine. Fluid levels are ok (but, aged). Motor runs sweetly.

    Any ideas?

dose it get worse the faster you go, if the engine still runs fine when it hapends, could be engine mounts, could be the harmonic balencer has fallen off, or if its realy bad could be somthing around the hand brake or props, whats it like on run down

I reckon the problem is around the handbrake area!

Speed doesn't seem to matter, more load!

Check the harmonic b. by hand, seems ok!

    Will check engine mounts! thanks!

Run down is smooth as the proverbial.

    Definetly a load issue!

Hope it's props. and not transfer or gearbox!

Check the mounts first ... You don't want them to break

Front prop shaft, go check, quick, before it rips out your transfer case.

The shaft has about 5mm of rotational play. No end play and no lateral play.

But! The transfer case sounds like it has no oil in it and clunks when the prop. shaft is twisted to and fro. by hand.

I suspect you are onto something.

    But what?
