There are other kits that screw down but look tacky. (mine has not lifted)
I had my hood lining fixed at a local auto trim shop $260 a year ago, They pulled out hood lining cleaned off material and glued on new foam backed material looks the same. They advised that i could do it myself and its not hard.
Stick to your guns on what you wont to pay, as everything is dropping in price. Happy shopping:D
The "tdi automatic pushing the throttle a long way to get moving" topic comes up quite often.
From cheapest to most expensive
1. The driver is not used to the accelerator travel and after two weeks has gotten used to the car and doesn't notice the 'problem' anymore.
2. The throttle cable is out of adjustment and the first few cm of pedal travel does not open the throttle. Adjust the cable.
3. The oil screen is so dirty flow is restricted and the oil has deteriorated to such an extent its hydraulic properties are not within spec. Replace fluid and filter.
4. The sprag in the converter is slipping, therefore it doesn't load up the engine enough to build boost to move its ****. Replace the converter.
5. The clutch packs are so worn that they don't fully engage until you boot it. Rebuild the box.
I got to stage 3 and my ZF has been flawless since (or should that be floorless since I never have to floor it anymore?:D)
well progress update, wortho bein such the top bloke he is came out and had a look over it with me the sarvo and i left a deposit and picking it up in the morining, the throttle cable needed a lil adjusting, air filter is dirty, needs the good once over on maintnace things but there all simple things i can do myself, got it for 5800 so i rekon i done alright
Make that 5 turns tightning and the air filter is proberly one of the filthest i've seen in a while, doesn't actually look to bad dash is cosmetically the worst part of the car but the rest looks ok, no signs of any offroad abuse at all, tyres are really bad and the "o" ring on the oil filter assembly needs replaceing. Other than that a good thorough service and she should be a good one. Just keep in mind it's a 13yo vehicle with not a huge amount of use and a lot of seals will have gone hard, good thing is seals are relativly cheap and easy to replace.Quote:

Love it and in 300k time give an update.
filter was beyond dirty looks like he used it as a degreasing rag a few times, looked into the dash a little thinking why i have the windscreen out some epoxy resin and a few weights may hold it back down,
