I get 9.5 km to the liter. is this normal? The car has a snorkel, does this restrict air flow? The car rarely revs over 3000, should it go higher?

A snorkel actually increases your fuel economy! you should get more distance to the liter with a snorkel!
G'day disco lovers, I just joined up and need some guidance from your brains trust ;). I have been looking for a diesel discovery for a couple of months. I have spotted one I like, a '95 2 door manual @ 225,000k's . Its not bad really for a disco that has seen some work .. no prob BUT it blows alot of smoke. There is a bit of blow-by and the oil is well overdue for a change. Do you think I should walk away?
