top job...damn you're clever
Thought ill post up my dislocation cones. I fabricated these using the original spring plate and cutting up a front shock tower. As you can see, I aligned the curved plate to the spring base, and I have NO clanging noise as springs relocate. Damn im clever!
Now I have read the pros and cons to relocation cones, but I have tested the difference in the same location (without dislocation, ie standard travel, and with dislocation) and I can say that for me theres no doubt that it is better to have the coil dislocate, having extra travel.

nice job indeed.
He's not just an ugly face, he's a clever boy!
How safe are these things on road?
no different to not having them...
may in fact be safer...
what would happen if youd beed driving hard off road and a spring had not correctly seated then popped out when your cornered it hard?
good drill I say...
(but did you have to cut up landy parts? couldnt you have butchered something lesser?)

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
There was two things I took into consideration. 1) That the springs would always remain in contact with the plate, that is, there wouldnt be any gap between the base of the spring and the top of the plate; 2) that the spring would not encounter any 'difficulties' in seating back onto the base, hence why I ade the plate and base align to have the spring seat in without friction; 3) the cone is bolted to the bottom spring retainer, not the top. The top has the lip which I thought is better to secure the spring, and would be a pain to try and relocate the spring back in without having to bend the spring to avoid the lip.
The spring sits parallel to the disco body, the axel drops and the spring is hardly put under any pressure (bent in by the locator cone). I believe these two factors mean that theres no way the spring would not locate correctly.
I know, I didnt want to cut up a landy part, but I had spare shock towers lying around![]()
