Place to get new Callipers for front of 95 D1

Hi all $700 to re-sleave and overhaul the front callipers!!! All cylinders leaking. I think new is better for brake gear...and at the overhaul price I reckon I can come close. Where is the best place to get new ones in Brisbane?

    Cheers

It seems that you cant get NEW ones without going off to Britain. I have got a quote for good second hand ones (ie vehicle driven in with no brake cylinder leaks) for $100 each.

Thanks Aussie - they seem to have the parts but not the calliper complete. I can get all the pistons and seals locally for $230 but thats not with sleeves for the cylinders. I have gone second hand with no leaks for $100 each for the complete calliper. This is the problem with vehicles that get old I guess. Its ok if all they need is the odd piston or seal with a hone of the cylinder, but all 8 going is a drama!

    Cheers

If your keen you could upgrade to the bigger defender callipers and get ventilated discs at the same time if your looking to overhaul the braking system. For $230 you could probably get them from the UK at that price.

There's a post on outers for which defender callipers to use. I'll see if I can dig it up. When my discs and pads are gone next this is what I'll be doing.

    Here's the post

    with thanks KiwiBacon.

I've been asked about part numbers for a brake caliper upgrade (46mm pistons instead of the stock 41.3mm ones).

All these brake numbers are from the Paddock Spares website, that's where I got my calipers from.
The ones with "ordered" are the ones I bought and fitted to my rangie. Fantastic upgrade that I recommend to all.
Needed modifications were only plumbing and some grinding to the mounting tabs.

Probably also need to mention that the Defender calipers need 16" rims to fit.

The circuit closest to the firewall on your MC is plumbed to the front brakes, the circuit furtherest from the firewall gets plumbed through the proportioning valve to the rear brakes. You need to block off the extra port in the proportioning valve.

Pads are matched to calipers. You need to buy pads (and retention kit) which fit the new big front calipers.'
    They are front brakes only.
