    Cool Electronic or non Electronic?

    Hi again

I have been reading the forum all day on and off trying to glean what I can about these Discovery's and I have seen written a few times something like

    " I have a 97 Disco non electronic"

Well, I'd like to know how I can find out whether mine is electronic or non electronic

Can someone explain to me what this is in reference to?????

    thanks in advance

You've posted this question in the Discovery 3 area.
Is your question regarding the D3 or the earlier cars (as in the mentioned 1997 D1)?

Anyway, I have no idea what a 'non-electronic' D1 is.
    Tdi maybe?

    Moved to Discovery area.

I've never heard the term "Disco non electronic" before.

Ahh. Scouse would know better than me but I believe that some late model 300Tdi engines had electronic diesel control (EDC) but I don't know if they came to Australia.

Well, understand I'm confused?? but I THOUGHT it had to do with an ECU or Diesel Control Unit.

Mine is a late (Sept) 98 model TDI. I only got it yesterday and I'm just trying to learn about it as much as possible.

I thought that it was ECU free and EDC free. But as I have already stated I'm a bit confused.

That is a nice way of saying I know nothing about Discovery's

I may have made comments in the past about the 1995 300Tdi Disco my daughter was driving in the Kimberley. It was a pretty basic 300Tdi with virtually no electronics except for the radio, central locking, electric mirrors, and electric windows. Ideal for locations where there are no dealers/service agents.
