Me too, a lack of a welder has seen me put this off for about a year.

I don't like the bit at the bottom of the second pic. I'd make the whole bar a bit taller and end flat on that bottom.
Either way, my guards are chopping up my tyres off road so I'll be pulling off my flares and doing the cut in the next few days. i'll modify my flares to work and just lose the last remaining end cap for now.
Whilst on the subject, both my bar lights have cracked lenses, what would others recomend to replace them with???

That lower plate is a finishing plate / slider... It meets the bottom edge of the fuel tank and fills in the void from the 2" body lift on that vehicle.

Its 6mm steel at that point and the vehicle would slide off of it rather than catch up on the 'square' section of bar....

It was integral to the strength of the bar too, mounting directly to the bottom points of the chassis to provide anti rotation.

The bar ends were honeycombed to make them strong internally as I couldnt brace to the chassis due to tanks under the corners.

Also pays to remember that the vehicle is sitting on 35's, has a 3" coil lift and 2" body lift so theres plenty of clearance under it all!

The tyre is also protected by the bar after having hit the tyre dropping off a ledge once I designed it to prevent this happening.

Heres the one I made for the D2... Back in Jan 2000 we tore the rear bar off and there were no options out there...

This is the first aftermarket D2 rear bar in Australia even has swing away mounts but never fitted the carriers as I havent had a need to make them yet!

That angle underneath really stops flex and keeps the back end tidy as well... I've never hooked up on any of my barwork.
