im looking at running them in the front of the 90 after i finalize the 3 link install. i want to look at them as an option because i think the shocks in the STD coils and the amount of flex it will get may cause the shock and spring to hit? i thought of running them outside the coil but again i think thay will then come in contact with the tyre's??

so in my case would it be something worth considering??

    cheers phil

I'm not sure, what shock open length are you running? If it is a problem you may be able to move the lower mount outwards but still within the spring.

The 3 link will be excellent. Which 3 link design are you running? I'm a fan of the 2 lowers, single upper and a panhard.
    Cheers

No way do you need a second shockie with a coilover, unless offroad racing.

The normal coilover shockies such as swayaway, fox, etc. are far better shockies than what is normally fitted to a regular coil spring and shockie on a 4x4 like we are concerned with.

They are fully adjustable/rebuildable on the workbench (no need to send away). Nitrogen charged through schraeder valve.

Spring preload/height is adjustable, huge range of spring rates. Dual rate is usual and easy to adjust where abouts in the travel the spring rate changes. Dead easy to change springs and excellent quality springs are easy to get off the shelf.

More robust than shockies that are normally used on our 4x4's - where most might have 14mm or at best 16mm piston rods, coilovers use 22mm.

This pic shows a 14" swayaway racerunner alongside +2" bilstein for front of rangie for comparison. The airspring on the coilover gives about 130mm height adjustment on the fly.

its the SG 3link, 2 outter links 1 inner and the panhard.
ive got 11''stroke shocke atmo, from what im reading anything longer will require a custom wider angle (than i already have) uni front shaft.
i might play with changing the front shock mounts to eye to eye first. (anyone got any D2 towers they dont want???)
the angle of the spring seat with the 80mm lift has the base of the spring on quite an angle at rest, so that will have to be cut and levelled out during the swap, that should put the shock closer to the center of the coil.

i was never going to run a shock and a coil over.
what you have stated is a BIG factor in going to coil overs, the ability to change and tweek the rates and valving to what i need, instead of buying 3 sets of shocks and coils b4 i get it right...

    cheers phil

I think Bush65' comments were in response to Pedros comments.

I thought the 90's were the same as all of the other Landys at the front??? I cant imagine that 11" shocks would be a problem I run 10" and its fine, likewise there are plenty of yanks running 12" short bodies with adaptors and are fine. Thes are obviously not Tough Dog Ralphs though.

Bundalene will probably have D2 shock turrets.

Same airspring, but from memory Mal has different make and longer travel coilovers.

I got these for mine long before Mal bought Bruce's bushie, but fitting them has dropped down my list of priorities - when the rangie is finished I will get stuck into it (at one time they nearly went on the rangie).
