It all depends on the seats, each brands have different runners that would have to be adapted to the car, remoulding, reshaping and upholstering the original seats may be a cheaper and less time consuming process.
Just wondering if anyone has fitted sports seats to their disco 1's ? Is it hard to change over to fit them ?

That's what I did. Picked up a couple of cheapo old seats on fleabay for $20 each. Had them reupholstered then fitted the new ones.
Very nice, looks real good and I'm happy as is swmbo.![]()
Mick, my Disco has a "Paratus" drivers seat ($1600), looks like it sits in the original position, no changes to the runners, the side bolsters are a bit narrow for my wide load backside and if you're not careful getting out (lift bum over bolsters) it will tear you a new one, not pleasant, check out before you buy, Regards Frank.
Hey mick, I did notreplace the seats for the D1 I replaced the seats in the 'fender and although costly they are really easy to fit and also would be an improvement on the D1 seats. I had stratos ones. Forget the model but they were about $1200 a pop I think. I had to change the seat rails but that was not costly maybe 100 bucks or there abouts.
Usually there is one or two retailers in each state where they have pretty much all the models set up so you can try them and see what you think of each one before you buy it. I have a feeling the place I tried mine was an ARB but I can't recall...
What year is your Disco?
The MY95/96 and MY97/98 have different seats and bases.
I have seats from an EL XR6 that I have tried fitting. Not got there yet but I think the easiest solution for a MY95/96 is to replace the entire seat base with a custom RHS one. Main problem is the existing base is too narrow for any other bucket seat and also too high.
The base is quite simple and just bolts through the flat floor.
If yours is an MY97/98 then see what seats you can find that come close as they are the two hump on the floor sort of mounts that you see in most cars these days.
I'm surprised they changed the seat bases in such a short time frame left as the td5's i believe have another base also and thats from 99 on, I can understand from the older d1 to the update my'n is a 96 and I believe its an update........bloody land rover change there mind like the bloody wind
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
I won't be changing my seats in a hurry. My D1 is the most comfortable car I've owned.
And I've had roughly .... cough, splutter 40 cars :P
