What to do about stolen keys/remote?

I had my keys/remote fob stolen last night and without a spare set, the Disco is now a blockade in my driveway. Anyone know the quickest and cheapest way to deal with this problem?

I don't know your location MSkinner but you will be able to get a replacement using your VIN number - ring your local (?) Land Rover outlet and they will be able to help.
Won't be cheap though. (I'd be guessing maybe $300 ish - with fob).

Next question is whether thief has eyes for your vehicle, in which case it may be better to change the locks - add more $$$. (You should be able to pick up an ignition with key from wreckers - or buy new.)

I would be speaking to your Insurance company - depending on your excess of course - it may work out cheaper and replace all your locks/fobs.

Are you sure they were pinched? I'd convinced myself that someone had lifted mine last week but turns out my own absent mindedness.

They were definitely stolen...rear window of the Territory Ghia Turbo smashed out that my bag was in. I don't have any spares and I only covered the Disco with 3rd party + fire and theft. I'm in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The thief doesn't know where I live though, and didn't steal anything that he could find out with.

Does the insurance on the Territory cover "valuables" stolen?

Off the top of my head places to start:

    ULR Malvern
    Ritters Burwood

    or try specialist locksmiths

Car Locksmiths- Cutting Edge Locksmiths, Australia
Locksmith, Transponder, Automotive Locksmith, Car Keys, Car Locksmith, Locksmith Melbourne
    Automotive

<<Caveat: I'm not vouching for any of these companies - just know of them>>

The D2 key is encoded to the BCU. You can use the key to disable the engine immobiliser but you need the EKA code.

The dealer can provide the key cutting code from the VIN and any locksmith can then do the cutting. You will need to get the fob programmed in to the vehicle and the old fob code whipped from the BCU.

For piece of mind I'd be replacing both door and ignition locks as well though. Even if they can't start the vehicle, they can still gain access.

    IIRC he has a D1.

That probably makes the problem easier to start with.

In that case - replace the locks and ignition and get new keys (and alarm fobs if required)

So the verdict is call Land Rover about the key fob, and get a locksmith to take care of the keys/locks?
