The ERPS or similar systems do not work, save your money

'95 post update 2 x door. Rust in 1 side only, not too bad, but I need to do something about it pretty soon.

Everyone with a D1 should check for rust developing under the Alpine window seals regularly. Once you can see it from the outside it's well developed. You need to push a flat blade up into the edge of the rubbers and gently lift ( particularly at the bottom ends ) and shine a small torch in there. I think the problem is that water runs down and stays in the gap between the seal and the metal at the bottom edges.

I never had any rust in mine but I regularly lifted the rubbers and sprayed WD40 in there liberally.

I believe it was a known design fault hence why the D2's had redesigned window seals for the alpine windows. Like you say the seal catches water and holds it.

When fixing it would be a ggod idea to use sealant between the seal and body.
