Shouldn't need to do any of what you said...not acording to my instructions

they only need to be welded if your fitting them for competition...they supply a lug that gets welded. (there is a seprat part on the instructions for the welding if your fitting for comps)

it shouldn't fowl on the donut if you brought the right guard they have more than one rear guard for the disco. one for the donut and one without. I dont have the donut anyway I changed it for the UJ

When I bought mine ages ago there was only one size available. But it was worth the effort anyway.

I have a set of these fitted to my 300tdi Disco, and there great! they should fit without having to modify anything, although i had to fit a 6mm spacer on
the front of the rear diff to clear the donut, which they don't tell you you need, but you have to buy! i made mine, from some scrap i had in the shed.

the only issue i have had with mine is the rear diff was replaced and the garage refitted the guard wrong, which wore through a break line!! so when you fit them make sure they don't touch your break lines. bloody stupid garage!

On the P38A, the studs are too short to fit the diff guard thus requiring their replacement. The P38A parts manual shows removable studs hold the diff carrier in position. If that were the case, it wouldn't be a problem.

However, the studs are fitted from inside the axle housing (like wheel studs) - as I found when I looked at a housing at Bundalene's place.

Some D1 housings have removable studs but the studs are long enough anyway.

Ive had a set on the old Defender and now have a pair on the RRC

Worth every cent...

Fitting... only catch.... front one i had to shim down where it bolted to the diff center as the heavy duty rear track rod would have fowled....

the best part.... when you hit anything you know the bang is a good one not a crownwheel rubbing on the diff pan....

Lou, is your guard a QT-A1080 Defender>02, P38A Rear (same as mine)?

If so, can you copy the instructions (I did a fit up so I am sure I know how it goes)?

no Ron my diff guards are.....A1050.

My instructions look like they have just been printed out of a comp why dont you just drop QT an email I'm sure they wouldn't mind sending you a copy if you explain that you never received any

my guards also look a fair bit different to yours mine are bent up at the edges to hug if you like, they also dont have that bracket at the bottom that appears to hold up the diff 1/2 of the way along on your first pic mine are flat in this area

EDIT: just had a look on there site at all there diff guards and yours isn't even listed on there......I would definately drop them a line Ron

That centre bracket bolts to the lower bolts around the diff carrier.

I'll try QT out for instructions.
