check the springs......the springs can give up the ghost, often a lot of people change the unit not knowing you an change the spring have done 3 out of the 5 doors on mine
Any tricks on this? The passengers door of the D1 now pops up, but doesn't quite unlock when the remote is clicked. Stick in the key, turn it slightly and it opens.
Obviously there's play in there.
I pulled off the door panel, unbolted the mounting plate, filed the holes sideways and fitted it back to the right of before, thinking this would be enough to overcome the play, but it still doesn't open.
I'm guessing the unit is simply stuffed, but I wondered if there were any other tricks to avoid having to buy a replacement?

Good thought.
If the springs don't fix it (as suggested above) and you do eventually need replacement motors, don't pay around $150ea for genuine ones. JayCar electronics have some for about $15 ea that do the job nicely - Same bolt hole position, just need to swap the electrical connectors over.

When I had that problem it was the 2 halves of the motor casing had split, and the runner inside the motor was slipping.
Inside is a runner/track with teeth on it's surface, a small "toy car type motor" with a drive wheel runs along it, this works the unlock / lock. I temp fixed it by putting long screw through it, but it only lasted a couple of weeks and ended up replacing it from a second hand unit from flea bay, only cost about $15
Thanks for that advice folks.
In my case the motor appears to be working OK, but the linkages appear to have warped and I'm trying to get them to pop it up sufficiently to open the door.
So its the linkages, not the motor, that appear to be the problem.
you can purchase the replacement spring for the locking mech for about $9 on ebay... though getting the mechanism out can be a bitch... the screws holding it in place seem to be made out of silly putty and its very easy to strip out the heads... doh...
the spring is a minute little thing... but it apparently causes all the problems..
that's right it does.....This is from my other half unfortunately pics aren't great

Both my front buttons don't go up the whole way(5 fricken MM short).
Can you just remove the springs and stretch them, then reinstall them, or are they non removable?
