abs shudder under descent or slippery dirt

My tdi has ABS and they are not as sensitive as what some of you say are experiencing. Infact, Inhave travelled down a slippery gnarly clay track,where you could feel the wheels slipping slightly, and still the ABS did not kick in... although I was only going less than walking pace.

I have had the abs kick in on dirt road and tracks, but only momentarily, nothing that lasts longer than a few seconds (feeling the peddal vibrate).

and so it shouldn't its not TC....

I think the times mine has kicked has been when the wheel has been given some sort of bounce or y\uneven surface not a frictionless surface

That happens to me fairly often in our defender. Say you go over a gutter or large bump you get the shudder. I reckon it's because the TC in landrovers is designed to work at slow speeds, so it is aggressive in it's action.

Normal road cars the TC can be less aggressive and only intervene when there is significant slippage, hence it is very unobtrusive. A system like this would be useless at helping a LR up a slippery hill in 1st low range.
