I will be having my roof painted as soon as the weather warms up
Do you know what a paint job for the roof is worth? i would love one, although my whole car sort of needs one haha, maybe i should just do that... one day... i have all the panels to put on mine to get it all straight... just need the money for paint :(
nearly a grand I was quoted......So thanks to a friend I'm going to do the prep work and he is going to throw the paint on.....so I'm guessing will only need to spend couple of hundred bux on the primer, paint and clear.
I dont even care if its not a fantastic job as long as it looks better than the white roof I have...no bugger can see it anyway....I'm also considering taking off my rails and fitting a roof rack this will help in the prevention of the paint deteriorating in the future.
I'd prefer to spray the whole bonnet matt black rather than just the centre portion.
As for the roof, well not many people actually get to see it from ground level at least. As it doesn't need to be a show-stopper finish up there I might just spray it myself (Rioja Red) with a few cans of Crash Supplies custom pressure packs which match the colour exactly and cost about $30 each.
That looks like the clear-coat peeling off.
I had the same problem on my daughters car. You can fix it, but it is a labour of love.
I ended up getting some special stuff made by Meguiar's, as well as the waffle pods to go on my buffer.
As we were selling the car, I didn't want to spend too long on it, but I did manage to reduce the visual impact of the white splotches on a dark blue roof, bonnet & boot. :D
What you are effectively doing is removing the existing clear coat, without removing the paint. You then need to re-clear coat the patches you have done. :o
On something the size of a landy bonnet or roof, it is actually easier than working on a smaller car.
But it all takes time. I spent about 8 hrs on the car, and only "reduced" the splotches so we could sell it. It would take about 3 times as long as that to remove them completely, so then you could clear coat again. (After getting all of the polish & wax off....)
