    Time to raise her.

Well Finally i have the gear to lift my D1, ordered some rear springs today and they will be in tommorrow. NOW What would be a good procedure on how to install everything???? I have 4 shocks and four coils. With little of tools i really cant afford to get them installed by a mechanic so i'll have to do it myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers simo.

Its not that hard just common sense , Make sure you chock wheels and if you have chassis stands use them dont depend on jacks to suspend the car when working under it
Take your time dont rush and think it over and you will be ok

when i did my lift i found it easiest to remove the front shockers as a whole unit, turrets and all, they just lift straight up out of the engine bay and are held in by 4 bolts, loosen the bottom bolt while the weight is still on the springs, then remove the turrets, jack up the body and the springs should pretty much fall out

the rear is pretty simple, just undo the bottom shock bolt on either side and raise the body, the springs should go relatively loose but not fall out as they are retained at the bottom by a bit of 3mm plate, i found i had to push down on the diff housing slightly as i pulled them out, the brake line could be a problem, as when on full droop mine was very tight, i got a new one made up that is 4" longer, but i have 2" longer shocks in the rear so it probably wont be an issue for you

i think its a 13mm nut and bolt on the turrets, 19mm for the top and bottom shocks, 17mm for the bottom spring retainers

then just put it all back in in reverse order

you dont need spring compressors or anything like that, you will wonder how u ever went out bush at standard height haha

a pair of vice grips can be handy for gripping the base of the shock when you try and undo the bolt, otherwise they can just rotate as you try to loosen it

i got my front and rear done in about an hour and a half, on a rainy night on grass in the dark on my own, its alot less daunting than it may seem

what kind of springs and shocks have you gone for?

Cheers Mate for the info LOL hey i did alright for just the standard hight, mind you the whole left side was saggin heaps.

As for the suspension as you know i only got front coils and 4 shocks. they are EFS and i went today and just got iron man 2" rear springs. thats ok for me as pretty much i will be going for little runs here and there and just camping with the family. will post some pics IF everything goes well.......
