    Radiators....(unfortunately, not the band)

So on the weekend whilst heading up to Narbethong with a fully loaded truck and trailer with 5 Downhill bikes, the Disco decided to chuck a hissy fit and spew coolant all over the place. I let it cool down before throwing some water back in it and a new bottle of coolant (had a spare in the car - lucky that) and off we went. As soon as the Disco got high in the rev range when chugging up a hill the temp started climbing and did it all over again.

Anway............... so I have taken it to be looked at it aparently has major blockage in the Radiator. I have been quoted about $450 (possibly less) to have the radiator pulled out, pulled apart cleaned/rodded/chemically flushed/re-welded & presure tested then re-fitted.

    Is $450 a bit pricey?

    V8 Radiator.

The Radiator was replaced 2 years ago but the previous owner seems to have put some sort of horrible water or coolant in it that turned to a jelly aparently. Maybe even a stop leak. I've decided to go ahead and have the whole system cleaned & presure tested (at the same cost) which to me seems pretty fair for a full overhaul of the cooling system.

Alright, so I picked the disco this afternoon and all is more than well again. Louie from European Vehicle Service in North Melb (across from Graham of BCC), didn't just get the cooling system sorted, he noticed the serpentine belt had been fitted incorrectly which was defo contibuting to cooling issues and also causing a little glitch with the taco, and adjusted it free of charge. The also topped up all the oils and fluids and made sure everything was tip top.

After doing all this, he still only charged me for the cooling system work!!! When you lift the hood now there is not a squeak, a noise, nothing coming from the engine bay.

Big props to Louie and his guys, the defo know their Disco's, and thanks to Graham from BCC for recomending him. If you're looking for someone to work on the disco, I would recommend you give him a call.

Interesting about the serpentine belt.... I can't see how that can be put on wrong, if there not treaded correctly around he correct pulleys then it doesn't fit.
