Immobilisor matter
Hi,
We have a Jan 94 Discovery that has just done the old engine cut out trick while in the middle of a set of traffic lights. Starting going again after about 10 minutes. Appears it could be alarm spider immobiliser dieing as this appears to be a common fault - and the car is getting on a bit.
Before I take the front dash apart, can any one advise if a car of that vintage would actually have the alarm spider fitted? I read on one forum that these came in from 96.
Thanks,
Anthony

Hmm, Jan 1994. It seems a bit early to be an MA with a factory alarm. LA's didn't have one.
Do you have an LA Disco or an MA ?
Little headlights (LA), big (MA).

Its a MA - I don't think its got an alarm - never heard one go off in 7 years - nor do we have a handset - must be some other fault then?

The only MA that had an alarm was the ES (top of the range) model.
Cutting out when hot then restarting might be an ignition module problem.

It had only been running a few minutes.
