    NO HEAT! Please help

    Problem:

I have no heat - A/C runs fine - fan works, but there is no heat coming through. Adjusted both knobs to maximum heat, and still nothing.

    Any Ideas??

Heater core leak & has been bypassed?

    you got your vents open

Seriously have you tried it on all your vent settings?

But I would go heater core and like scouse said could already be bypassed if you have not coolant down by your feet..how ever my heater went crap a bit before I got the coolant leak in the drivers footwell
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Nope no coolant down by the feet, opened all vents and tried all different settings.
It tries to get hot air out for the first 2 secs then just goes back to cold temp. Funny thing is that it was working Sat night, then Sunday nothing.....wierd!

if it is a Tdi, then check the water level, otherwise if the level is fine, it could be a classic Tdi head gasket failure symptom, filling the heater with air, displacing the coolant and causing it to go cold.

    Hope it isn't the latter.

Thumbs up I got the same issue

I am glad it not just my car, the same thing. I can hear all the flaps moving but no warm air, jumpers just dont help much at 5 deg lately.
I am going to hunt the diversion in my heater hoses then PRAY that it doesnt flood my foot well.
Thanks all for replies and the post. I was thinking of pulling it apart today but a friend had her first baby and we had to go for a visit. I feel so sorry for first time parents as their shock sets in.

Also check the Metal outlet on the engine where the heater hose connects too. If the inside is crudded/rusted up no water will circulate

Thanks for your suggestions - BTW it is a 3.9 V8 model one. Will have to check the heater hoses etc....

At the risk of sounding foolish ( Never a short distance for me to travel )...

    I have a Discovery TDI - 92.....

There are two horizontals levers on the unit top and bottem.

There are two vertical levers one on each side of the heater unit.

The passanger side vertical lever has at the bottom of it slide a red symbol.

For heat the passenger side lever must be fully down and stay there.

Then adjust fan and temp settings will heat up after that.

    I hope this helps...

Fixed mine finally, the day before we went to the snow

I found my heater problem, it was on the passenger side vertical slide. The plastic clamp holding the metal rod/bar behind the fascia had been broken but also someone had put so much pressure on the slide it had bent the rod/bar that operates the heater vent internally.
Had to remove the center console then the heater fascia panel and glue it back together .

I was very happy as I finished at 2 am and left for the snow at 9 with my wife and young children, they where very pleased and now we are going again but this time to find MUD GLORIOUS MUD.
