just wondered if any ones made there own roof racks at all on the d1?
if soo what material did ya use? and any photos of it?
also cargo barriers if ya made your own?
im looking into this because i near about fell over when les richmond told me 800-1000 for a roof rack and i i expected 300-400 for cargo barrier

mate heres one i bulit myself (all be it with the help of a seconed hand..)..light steel with 4mm steel legs..in the first version l made was a full rack but hated it then cut it down to a half and no im happy with it..
as for the cargo barrier...

i have recently been in the position you are in now and for the cargo barrier i made my own to suit the way im building my rear drawer system, than the roof racks i spent a lot of time looking at and eneded up getting some of ebay, they cost me $95 for three brand new ones and honestly i cant complain my plan is to make a basket that will mount into the legs of the racks that i bought as i thought that home made legs just seemed to rewen all the other good work,

thats my build up thread have a look through and see what i done with the cargo barrier, also if you have a look at the roof racks i bought you will notice where the cross bars are sitting under them is the protrusion where they are supposed to go but thats where my roof basket will mount to they are rock solid legs to
