its nice to see some one get as carried away with modifying a disco as i do, tell me, where is it that you can drive on the beach , ? i have been alover the net trying to find a place and there is nothing listed. btw what size did you stuff under the wheel well ? i put 31s on mine, it dosent seem to rub at all with a 2 inch lift. and btw, the ramp should meet australian standerds so long as it is used in australia.
Hi Mate,
Awsome thread..... great price on the 300 Tdi, I paid 7500 for my 200Tdi. Love it.
Two things I hope help.
1. I find I get 800+ K's per tank on and off road, that includes beach work, I have found I need less and less rev's to get the job done. Though I have a manual. Enjoy that...... the missus will.
2. I had a BLACK expansion tank on mine, original. I had from two seperate sources both Land Rover specialist (one a long time mate of mine) the BLACK tanks have a habit of spliting with age. I now have a white one.
Both guys are the senior mech's were they work, both were amazed the Black tank has lasted as long as it had. Having said that since then I have had to keep an eye on the coolant. Seems to have settled down now though.
Great thread.... very encouraging to those newer to major mechanics.

:p I doubt I would get my ramp through customs any way :D:D:D
Getting carried away............... Yes well after almost 12 years of playing with various Land Rovers, my wife doesn't really think it is Playing any more ;)
I got 33" tyres under there  Bit of cutting with the grinder :twisted::twisted: I have -1" off set rims & 2.5" (although it is sitting up around 3" at the moment) suspension lift.
Where we drive on the beach is near Bundaberg Qld. Only about 20 minutes from home, is a beautiful spot :) We take it for granted to much ;) A quick Link to a quick Boys weekend trip down there :p
I haven't got much done of late, had it out for a few runs, looks like I got to get a new front diff housing & strengthen it ;) I put a big dint in my existing one, I am unsure how the dint is missing the crown wheel
Am thinking I may source some new springs to lower it an inch or so ;) Just for ease of use
Economy has changed a little with the mods, although that is to be expected, getting around 700 to a tank now, will be interesting to see what happens after a new exhaust & a tune up.
Then maybe LPG, but that will have to see
I will have to see about sourcing a white coolant bottle, the old green 93 model has a black one as well & it went to the Gulf at the end of 2007 in 45 degree heat with no drama
But better to be safe than sorry :)
