Auto Prob's, Now What The Hell Next!!!!!!!!!

Straight to the point, 300tdi D1 Auto, went today and had to get the kickdown cable changed. Mech pulled the sump off relized it was going to be a bigger job than thought, used a auto service kit and put new oil in and replaced the sump.

    PROBLEM 1
got to the shops put her in park and she started rolling back with clunck noises coming from the bottom, tried to put in park a few time no go, tried it once more and it locked in.

    PROBLEM 2
Left the old's house to head home, put it in drive felt the gear, started to drive would not change gears, stoped had a look at kickdown still attached, tried a few time nothing, tried manual changes still nothing, started to drive home again she starts changing with no prob's.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!!!! It was runnning fine before taking it in for the cable which wasnt done anyway.

I'm really fed up with everything i really dont know what to do anymore. sorry about being to the point but really REALLY ****ED RIGHT NOW.

Geez ... your not having a good run at all

Your "gear selector" is "cable connected" to the gearbox ... It is not adjusted properly ... Ring the spanner and tell him to drop past and adjust it proper

Mate thats what i was hoping it is, got underneath to check it out and it looks like it has not been touched, the gear selector is on the passenger side of the sump, just checking.

Which way do you adjust it??? thing is i dont want this bloke to touch my car anymore.

    Hey Simon,

This thread looks like what's happening to you:
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-...-park-pin.html

They may have disturbed it when they undid the crossmember to get the trans pan off, so the adjustment might be out even though it hasn't been touched at the screw thread.
The last post says how to check/adjust it. Just pull the splitpin out for a start and see if it lines up as Ashtrans describes.

    Steve.
