I managed to get these into the pillars of my Disco. They are 6 inch diameter and have a half inch spacer behind them.
Combined with a decent amp and a sub...the sound is rather good. I have the same size speakers in the front doors too.
I can see your thinking about putting them in the Alpine lights though. I would at least try to angle them forward to get some benefit from them.
I have got my 6x9 mount on the rear pillars with no issues and can oly recommend them to fit there. My Alpine windows dont leak and want it to stay that way, silicone if you use the incorrect one will rust out the windows.

Back pillars are not really an option for us . We have 5 kids and use all 7 seats. A 6x9 in the back pillars will interfere with the opening of the rear fold out seats. Interested to see your photos though.Quote:

My seats dont interfer with the speakers. My car is a 91 model and am guessing the rear seats are the same?
Me too, some photos of how you mounted the 6x9's in the rear pillars would be nice. I've just replaced the head unit with a nice Alpine and need to do something about the woeful speakers........:(:(

Yes I know what you mean about hitting the seats but it was a sacrifice, my music which I enjoy or having a single dent in the speaker covers. Forgot about it and really not noticeable unless you get the right angle :)(see pics) as I don't look at them like I look at my wife (shes beautiful and not many dents!). :wasntme:Quote:

even looking at your pictures I cant see how the speakers would fowl on the seats???
When you open the seats the back top corner hits the mesh and pushes it in about 5mm. This is due to angle of the rear pillar and that the rear seats are close to the rear of the car. I had forgotten until I looked closely at it today.
You could lift the seat bar off the ground by 10mm approx to stop the top of the seat hitting the speaker but they may be dangerous when involved in a jolt or accident.
so when you open the seats up does the back of the seat then move up and no longer sit flush with the plastic shroud around it?
