    Hi Simon,

Your vehicle doesn't have ABS does it? If so, the swivel kit is vastly different and will be more expensive
Wish I was over there, I do these on a weekly basis and with a few coffees we could knock it over very quickly
BTW, $600 quote is about right for non ABS.

Yes mate thats correct no ABS. LoL i was wishing to be near you, make you my local spanner. Was just thinking the quote for $600, all i told him was that i needed both seals changed over and plus do the wheel bearings as well, i dont think it included the works.

i called alan at british and he quoted me $198 per side for the kit which i was looking at getting slowly then hitting them both at the same time. he said it included everything i needed plus the grease as well. so looking at that option.

    cheers simon

$450 for a kit to replace the wheel bearings and the swivel seals....

ummm even the inflated military price for parts doesnt run that high. You might want to find out whats in the kit and try a few seperate places to get the kits from.

Hi Simon, ABS ones are fine for your vehicle if that is all you can get, and they all have 24 spline bits etc after 1994 MA chassis number. Some LATE LA numbers had them too, can't be sure how late the change was exactly. Basically, ANY of the D1 update were 24 spline, and all interchangeable EXCEPT you cannot fit the CV's from a non ABS one to an ABS one unless it has the sensor ring pressed on the outside. AFAIK you can only buy ABS CV's now, makes it easier

    hey dave,

the kit contains alot of gaskets, other bearings, all the seals and basically everything for the right hand side wheel/hub, he said you would start from the back and work your way to the front..

IF thats a full overhaul kit its likely got more than you need in it.

changing the swiv bearings is a major deal needing a decent press.

They are fine Simon, And just out of interest, Some model years in Defenders will interchange with D1; 1994 to 1998 D1 and Defender are the same (Non ABS D1) and the ABS Cv's, drive flanges and inner shafts etc will fit Defenders 1994 (MA) up until current (Puma) I believe.
I have 1996 130" front axles, CV's and flanges in my Rangie, with a D2 centre.
