Nooo, not tell me that. The disco was running so well I ordered a set of Boxers sliders and a 2" lift last week. :cool:

I had the AFM calibrated when I got the Disco 18 months ago, could it just need re-clabrating :angel:, or is it more likely that the whole unit will need replacing.

If I need to replace the AFM is it worth getting a 2nd hand unit, considering that they will all be as old if not older than the one I have?
Or should I just bite the bullet and get a new one :(

If it is I would buy new I'm sure Ian got his for something like 380bux landed from the uk or something like that....we were told by our garage not to bother with a reconed unit although I think a few people have had them on here with not to much trouble

Well I took the IACV off and gave it a good clean, was a little black but not guncked up. Took the AFM off and sprayed the inside with carby clean. Left everything to dry, put it back together, started her up and tick over was sweet.

Blipped the throttle and she dies back before picking up, and settled down to a very lumpy tick over.

Turn her off, wait 20min (I do not know why I do this with my car, it rarely works with the wife), still lumpy tick over and still smelling rich.:(

Any one know what part numbers my IACV and AFM are, I think I'm going to have to get new ones.:eek:

AIR FLOW METER - L/R DISC (FA>WA)+R/ROV (JA>) ERR5198
STEPPER MOTOR - L/R DISC+R/ROV CLASSIC V8 EFI (MA>) ERR5199

Started the disco pulled the plug off the AFM and no change to the engine.:(

Took off the AFM and cleaned it out with electrical cleaner, put it back together, started the engine sounded the same, but this time when I pulled the plug off the AFM the engine died.:)

The exhaust is still smoking and spitting, is it worth getting it reset before I fork out for a new one?

if its the original AFM and its done a few k's, (say over 150 000?) and it were mine, i would just replace it..
as said there are some cheaper ones on fleebay..

ive never had to ''re set'' the throttle plate settings if thats what you are refering to so i cant comment.

can you test the air flow meter in some way to tell if its not working without changing it over?

I guess I was just hoping it would be fixed with a quick clean.:angel:

Mine is up to 165 000 km so I've just ordered a new one off eBay, I hope I can intercept the postman before the Mrs finds out.:eek:
