Windscreen Rear Vison Mirror - & GLUING

Hey everybody, I'm trying to glue my rear vision mirror back to the windscreen, have tried straight epoxy and areldite, but both don't cure, as there is too much heat. Any ideas ? Is there a bracket you can buy to overcome the issue ?
    thanks

What model D1 do you have?

Some used an adhesive pad which is available from LR.

Others used a metal bracket that was bonded to the windscreen. The proper glue to secure this is available from any auto parts shop.

You can get windscreen mirror glue at all auto parts stores. It has a primer that you put onto th glass and the metal plate on the mirror and the glue. A tip though if you can slide the metal plate off the mirror and glue that on first it will save you having to HOLD the mirror there for the 5mins it takes to adhere. Then it's best to leave it overnight until it properly cures before you man handle it.
I have used 5 min Areldite with success if mixed properly and the mirror held there for 5 mins.- But 5 mins seems like hours trying to hold it steady until it goes off with your hand.

I had a similar problem with a Fairlane that I once owned.
Tried a few home remedies but mirror kept falling off.
Then I took it to a windscreen repair shop and they glued it back on.
    Problem solved.

I tried all sorts of glues then gave up took the car to windscreen fitter and they did it in 5 minutes. Not worth the hassle.

I did it using 5 minute araldite, the windscreen glue wouldn't work for me
Haven't had a problem for 3 years now, if it happens again, I'll take it to a windscreen place.
