I assume it's the original plastic pulg that's broken. If so, it should screw out fairly easily - try a flat blade screwdriver in the hole.
Replace it with a brass plug, available from any decent LR specialist.
taking the bleed plug out and it has broken into 2 pieces and leaving the threaded part in the radiator still , also has a small hole through the piece still stuck. living about 35-40 km out of toowoomba dont want to drive and lose coolant and maybe also cook the motor , a friend is picking up another plug for me and that leaves me with how do i get the other piece out ...? any help or ideas would be great. the bleed cap broke off flush with the radiator 94 D1 v8

just heat it up a little and push the screwdriver in? yahh its a dodgey bloody plastic one .
I wouldn't bother trying to heat it up. If you get the screwdriver to bite on the edges of the hole, it should come out easily enough.
Don't go trying to stick a big one through the hole as it'll probably break up & drop inside the radiator, just one a bit bigger than the hole.

the bleed caps out ! small bit of plastic went into the radiator . looks like i will have to do a coolant change now . plastic cap was so brittle.
Glad you got yours out. I had the exact same thing happen on my TVR (LR radiator in it). In my case the plug had gone off its thread so tapping it out with a screwdriver didn't work.
I ended up having to cut the thread out, which ended up tearing the end cap of the radiator.
So yeah, the radiator then had to come out totally and I had the bleed hole welded over by a specialist.
Moral of the story - either be v.carefull tightening the plastic bleed plug, or replace it with the metal variety used on the diffs.
Would you believe mine simply popped out today!!
The bleeder screw popped straight out and left the thread in the radiator.
Does anyone know if the metal one's from a 3.5 radiator will fit
Thanks
Luke
