Thread: Offroad and ABS - What to expect?

Check to see if a sensor hasnt come off (even slightly) the hub. I got Justin C to adjust mine and are good. never had any real dramas with mine, only come on if I hit the anchors hard on the mud, but aside from that, were no problems in the clay/mud.

I know that ABS plays up a bit on gravel and when off road, but never having driven an ABS vehicle off road I wasn't sure if the amount of playing up i was seeing was normal or I had something wrong. I did get a small shudder when gently applying the brakes going up hill, which sounds as if it ain't right, and more extreme that the symptoms i found when searching the forum. Had a bit of a fiddle under the car yesterday but couldn't see anything that seemed out of place, although I'm not sure of adjustment, just that they are still there and connected.

It is now all good, and was so after about 10 minutes away from the sloppy stuff, car booked in with JC on Thursday for some other stuff so I'll get him to cast an eye over it.

Yeah thats the way, get them checked by JC as you dont want to muck around with the brakes. Also you may want to consider asking him to do the rear axle seal mod... where the rear bearings will be oil lubed rather than grease lubed. I say this as my rear bearing collapsed, stuffing up the hub too, it was completed rusted as water got it and started havoc. With the oil fed system, you will tell from the oil colour if you got water ingress and can change it, but at least the bearings are still lubricated.
