My 98 disco I doesn't have keyless entry, nor does it have srs airbags or abs.

I have the same problem as the author being that the other 4 actuators do not work when the drivers door lock is locked/unlocked. The statement that the central locking is supposed to work off the drivers door is correct also - so I'm leading toward either the drivers door actuator being buggered.. or cabling from the drivers door to the other actuators being busted or weak somewhere along the line.
Best tip - see an auto sparky if you're not desperate to fix it yourself.. they'll do it in about 20 mins I reckon and prolly charge you bugger all to fix it.
Cheers,
-adam.
Hey guys, thanks all for your responses... but This statement is actually correct... when i said base model i mean NO keyless entry, NO airbag, No ABS, etc... so there is no key fob so battery not an issue .. my key is a standard key with plastic handle.. no battery or extra button remote etc.... so im thinking maybe drivers door actuator.. but in my mind if it was buggered why does the plastic lock inside the car on the trim still work perfectly?? in my other cars i have had when actuator failed door lock almost failed completly... this still works fine which is why im thinking electrical??
It was said that there is no relay in the circuit. I have circled a part in the circuit which to my understanding (however im not an electrician :-P ) is a relay... as the switch is drawn into the closed position when current passes through the coil? i may be wrong but id really like to avoid pulling my door apart to fix something that isnt the problem LOL surely someone has had same problem? cant be too uncommon... hopefully :-P
I said there was no relay.
What you have circled is a solenoid to operate the contactor as you described. It is part of the lock actuator in the driver's door - the rectangle is drawn around those components (motor, contacts, etc.) to indicate that it is one unit.
If you read the original post, my response was to a question about a relay mentioned in RAVE. The O.P. was having trouble identifying which relay was used for central locking.
The disco in question has no such relay - unless it was imported from Japan.
Yes, others have had same problem.
Edit the previous posts on this topic are not in the projects and tutorials forum as I said but are in the disco and tech forums.
thanks mate.. i get what you mean now with the relay.. your right it does cloearly show in a contained unit. i just looked at it wrong. thanks for your help... im not having a go mate but the way you write almost sounds like your angry at me??? im sorry if i asked a question that has been answered a million times. im new to the forum and to owning my own land rover so abit of patience and guidance is needed :-P alot of ppl here know ALOT of information, such as ppl like yourself and its good to be able to access that information.. so im sorry if i annoyed you?
