Ours hasn't worked properly for years as the buttons on the fob have nearly worn outso we just lock it with the key
Of course not sure if your'e problem is the same though

Gday Guys,
im sorry if this has been covered before but i cant find the answer anywhere :-(
Situation : 97 300TDI base model no keyless entry....
Central locking just stopped working. Mechanically all the locks work fine! just the central locking doesnt lock rest of doors so im thinking it is an electrical problem... checked fuse in fuse box under dash.. all good... so im think its maybe the RELAY??? looked through RAVE and it says LH kick panel? but doesnt specify which one and says for JAPN model so who knows....
so im wondering what people think if they have had this same trouble??
Or any ideas Where and which one is central locking relay without me having to do process by elimination on all of them :-(
thanks guys

The door lock motors for front and rear passenger doors and rear door are all controlled by the drivers door lock/motor.
There is no relay.
Often the motors fail, and can be replaced with motors from the likes of jacar at less cost than rover parts - look in the projects and tutorial forum.
I'd start with the simplest possible reason and assume the central locking switch is faulty. You should be able to remove it from the dash and short circuit it. If the doors lock then might be time for a new switch. And if that doesn't work then start down the longer path![]()

AFAIK, and confirmed by Land Rover manual for 1995 Discovery electrical trouble shooting, models without keyless entry don't have a central locking switch in the dash. I don't know for sure, but I believe it is still the case for later year disco I.
The locks for the other doors are controlled by the drivers door lock. This has micro switches in the door lock actuator.
The 1st pic is part of the description of the circuit operation.
2nd pic is circuit no L6-2. This shows the driver's door lock actuator circuit. The 2 triangles at top left are line continuation symbols to show the line continues (to, from in direction the triangle points) on circuit L6-3. Note the 'A' and 'B' labels in the line continuation symbols (match these labels to the other circuit).
3rd pic is circuit no L6-3. This shows the actuators for the other doors. The 2 line continuation symbols at top left and right show the lines continue (to, from in direction the triangle points) on circuit L6-2.
There are no other devices (relays or switches) that have anything to do with the central locking.
I would also replace the battery in the key fob before going in too deep with the other stuff.
Mine has lasted 11 years.....not bad eh!
Every other response seems to have interpreted the original post "no keyless entry" as though the keyless entry has stopped working.
I have interpreted it as though the particular vehicle does not have the keyless entry option - in the context given "base model ...", I thought that was clear enough. So there is no key fob with buttons and battery, no switches in the dash etc.
I agree ...... just open it up and clean the battery contacts in the fob
.... If that don't work, change the battery ... Also cleaning off grease / grime inside the fob can help ....
Also try pressing the button by holding it at the drivers side of the windscreen above the dash .... As all the above works for me on different occasions
After that your into the serious stuff ...

If the starter battery has been disconnected then you can reactivate the FOB code again by using the key to open and close the drivers door three times. This doesn't always work but it's worth a try.
As this thread revolves around 'No keyless entry'...this is just a comment for future ref.
