Thread: over heating

Blocked radiator.
The viscous fan only provides cooling below 50KMH tops.
Water pumps leak when dying. very rarely do they lose pumping efficiency.

easy check is the thermostat which can cause similar problems. They are very small for a large engine - almost half the size of the one used in a Nissan 3L motor, and therefore act as a dam to coolant circulation when they start to fail.

But, I would also back the rad being blocked as they are notorious for that - internal tubes are far too small and the system is trying to cool way to many things, and especially if someone has used mineralised water or radiator stop leak. Cost me 110 to get mine rodded recently, but that's in Tasmania

i replaced thermostat, all crappy hose clamps, a complete flush out twice and tryed to get all the crap between the rad and ac dencer

it no longer over heats any more

Mine did the same thing a year ago and started getting hot on long up hill climbs, Changed thermo fan and fitten new thermostat and flushed radiator and had a slight improvment but not fully.
Pulled radiator out to be rodded as advised on here and was advised that cores had started to fall apart internaly (rotting) had radiator recored with 4 core and temp never moved of running temp.
Also on another note if you have not changed the plastic bungs on the radiator and thermostat housing do this as well.

I'm with 4wd4fun, I replaced my bungs with brass ones, replaced the expansion tank (had a crack in it) and had the space between the radiators cleaned out (it was full of bugs) common problem according to the mechanic that fix it
