Thread: 285/75/16 on D1 w/3in lift, chopped guards, flares, offset rims?

I reckon you will be okay. alot of guys run 33's with just a 2 inch lift and flares.

The only thing that might rub will be the rears when they flex up, the tyres may rub on the inner guard with just a -6mm offset rim.

alot of guys run a -25mm offset rim and they just clear in most situations when fully flexed.

make sure you post some pics.....it is an impressive stance they get with 33's and flares

Yep i run 285s as my daily tyre...so no problem with flares & lift.

do you bother changing diff ratios for 33"s? or can you get by with the standard gears?

and pics asap please! i've been contemplating a 285/75/16 profile for muds, as it looks like they're now getting more common (i.e cheap ) than 265/75s!

edit: actually, can you fit a 285/75 on a 7" wide rim? or do you need a 8"?

Mine are mounted on 7" rim.

Generally they should be on 8's, but it is dependant on the tyre manufacturers specifications as they vary between brands.

I've got std ratios, but have plans to change (not due to 285's, but 36's )

Generally I find them ok, but they make the clutch work on steep hills in high range.

Bit of a hiccup at the tyre shop the other day...they didn't have an eftpos machine and I needed to pay with a credit card over the phone, so the tyres are put back to later this week.

Another question for anyone running this tyre size on offset rims...will the spare fit on the factory mount or will I need to fabricate a bracket to accommodate the larger tyres?

Hi, i have a series 1 with 32's and am also about a week away from buying a set of 285 75 16s, i have a 3.5inch lift and i have had to chop some guards away to fit the 32.s after some quick measure ups in my head i am making up 4 inch spacers for the diff bump stops to compensate for the lift and bigger tires, hopfully this stops the tires going up far enough to hit the rear doors, i also had to get brake lines made up too.
