    blue smoke at idle

    hi all, my 98 tdi blows smoke at idle after decelerating but not every time. the smoke is blue and there is heaps of it, it has a new head recently fitted, its done 245000km, any ideas could it be the turbo (still original)

    Blue smoke is burning oil.

    I suspect the bottom end is getting a bit tired. It sounds like the oil control rings aren't quite up to scratch anymore.

    Not to scare you or anything but my 300tdi D1 was doing the same thing just before it went BOOM. After getting a new head fitted the spanner relized that the bottom end was bloody cactus so get it checked out A.S.A.P from your friendly LR spanner.
