on the floor if you dont like the suggestion of on the roof...

Heavy weights should always be over the axle/s but a disco roof is only rated a max of 100kg i think so for ease of access towards the rear is better.
I made a simple basket out of steel mesh with the sides folded up and some angle welded on 2 sides to attach to the racks.

Your rack sounds good mate. Once and for all I have moved it to the back as said it's better as you can just step up and have easy access to it.

I was thinking, mount it on the rear door, that way he could utilise the rack to climb the corporate ladder.

Also you'll use less fuel on your day to day commuting to work if it's on the back door.

Its a simple basket but it sits low no higher than the racks so doesnt cause much drag, where did you get the highlift brackets from ? i need a couple for mine.

I got the mounts from a local 4x4 place here in hoppers crossing. they retail for around $45 - $50 but got my high lift & shovel bracket for $25 each as they where display models cause he had none in stock and they are rhino rack brackets.
