I have the 98 V8i disco. I think I have the same problem. I was driving today and the car just died. I was in the middle of nowhere on a track cut by loggers, not even on a map....
About 10 minutes later it started and off I went for about 10 mins and then "pooof" nothing. Another sit for 10 mins or so, etc. took 5 goes to get out of the bush. Once on the highway it was fine.
If this module gets warm does it just shut down?
I put a dual battery setup and a Safari Snorkel on the car so the dizzy and this module are stuffed under the air intake behind the air box. Should I move it or just replace it?

Them's the sign of your Amp breaking down .... It will progressively happen more often, untill it will only fire up when cold ... and then die 2 minutes later, ... if it fires up at all
The Amp needs a bit of free air to help remove the heat buildup from the heat sink that it is bolted to ... so if it is virtually sealed, then move it to a better location
The other parts that do the same "signs", are internals of the dizzy, bad wiring connections, Earth straps, rotor buttons .....

I posted up a Lucas amplifier to Bosch conversion on this site, I have done one on a 98 D1 recently, has been working well ever since. Haven't had a Bosch conversion fail yet.
Went out to start the car on sat morning and it was dead. Just crtanked away but no go. Went and got a new module from Land rover and all is well.
Thanks to all for making the diagnosis easy.
It also made me clean up the way I attached the Amp heatsink and coil due to the dual battery and snorkel setup..
Aso printed the Lucas amplifier to Bosch conversion from beeutey just in case it happens again! Thanks.
