Lightbulb Fatigue cracks at top of B and C pillars

I just had a look at a 94 disco and noticed the top of the B and C pillars had been welded up.

It's a tdi with 220 thousand km on it. It has a snorkel, dual batteries long range fuel tank and bullbar with evidence of a winch being removed so has obviously been off-road but was fairly clean over all with no signs of anything but a little surface rust on a few bits in the engine bay. I didn't really look to see if a roof rack had been installed.

How bit a deal are these cracks?

From searching they generally seem to be caused by rough roads than major abuse.

There was no service history with the car either, but apparently is has been 1 owner since new. It's the first car I have looked at, so I'm in no rush to buy, but it seems to be a good price.

Do you have cracks or just weld in these spots, both of my Discos have welds in these areas, from the factory, Regards Frank.

It was lines of weld. They were only along the top of the B and C pillars, not the A pillars though. Generally when I see a line of weld on a car, I suspect the worst. I might have to look at a few around carparks and see if they are similar. As I'm new to disco's I'm still sussing them out.

    Thanks for that.

Pretty sure they are factory welds.

Mine has it all the way around the top of the B and C pillars, but not the A pillar.

Yes, factory but the paint often cracks around there. If neglected they can look worse than they are if rust stains appear.

Are the cracks just in the paint or in the metal?

There were no cracks visible. I saw the welds and thought it may have been welded up by the previous owner. There was a slight notion of surface rust around the weld as well, leading me to believe that they weren't there from the factory but the paint didn't look touched up so I wasn't sure if it was normal.
