    Disco 1- Leaking Dash?

    Morning fellas,

I had a look at a 97 V8 Disco 1 last night and after I took it for a good run we noticed hot, clear water running down the carpet on the transmission tunnel on both the driver and passenger sides.the owner recently had some work done on the A/C system (i didnt find out exactly what..) could this have something to do with that? Is there a heater coil in behind the dash that could be leaking?
Thanks guys any help would be appreciated.

Check that the drains hoses for the a/c are not blocked. The out lets for the drains are high up in the tunnel so the disco will need to lifted to get to them, I then use a long cable tie inserted into the hose to clean out any blockages . Don't use anything sharp as you may do some damage.

Thanks Chunk, sounds like a pretty easy fix, would the water be hot though if it was coming from the A/C drain?

The water isn't hot it just stinks if it's been stagnant in the line for a while.
I know, because I've copped a face full of it when I unblocked mine

Thanks mate, ill watch out for that!
The water we found in the car was hot though, do you think that could still be the drain lines?

Is the cooling system filled with a coolant mixture or just water?

is it water in the wells thats hot...or coolant? if you have your coolant system filled with water or coolant then its likely to be a leaking heater core behind the dash.

if your coolant system is in fact filled with coolant but the stuff in the foot wells is defiantly water then I'm not sure....

you could try bypass the heater core to see if the leak stops

The motors just been rebuilt so you would think the coolant would be green but what i found was just clear. Ive got a feeling it probably is the heater core, i talked to the guy that owns it and he hasnt been driving it much lately, is it much of a job pulling them out? The last time i did a job like that it was on an old valiant and it was really easy!

if its the heater core then I would of honestly thought you would only find coolant as that is what runs through it......

if your getting clear water then I would of thought it is something else..

Have you actually checked your expansion tank to make sure the car has been filled with coolant and not water?
