How do I tell if I've got a disco S or SE...I'm not sure what I've got???

I just got my disco and it's great. The seller told me it was an SE but it doesn't have any such badging...should it have an SE badge if it was one? It doesn't have a sunroof or an instrument panel dimmer or even a passenger vanity mirror. The car is great but for insurance sake I didn't want to say it was an SE if it isn't. It does have cruise control though.

so its a v8 then if it has cruse,, witch they all have

i think to make it a tru se it has to have leather seats sunroof, mags, stuff like that, and a SE badge on the side and back, the best way is to look at your service book,, in the car detals it will say if its a s or se,

Well it's got no se badges, no sunroofs and cloth seats...the guy selling it was selling it as an "se" but I'm pretty sure it's just an s now. It's a great car but I want sunroofs

Seven seats, alloys, driver and passenger airbags, speakers in both A- and D-pillars, remote central locking, rubber side protection trim.

My D1 was a 97 SE and had no SE badges either.

Even a tdi has cruise as an option.

SE often has leather and sunroof, i think twin roofs were ES model.

Check owners manual but your does sound like a S model.

Sunroofs are not all they are cracked up to be.
Most of my cars had them and still do but do I use them, No.
Too scared that soon they will stop or leak which many do.

Having the S may even be a good thing, its simpler with less to go wrong.

The owners manual will give you more of an idea.

I have a '98 Tdi SE - 5 seater. This was like a run-out model prior to the Disco II. A dead give away is a drivers side air bag, remote central locking with alarm, cloth/velour seats & 5 alloy wheels. Also a 6 speaker Radio Cassette player with the option of adding a 6 stacker CD player under the driver's seat. - No SE sticker.

The SE7 had 7 seats, roof rails and all of the above + passenger side Air Bag- I think the 6 stacker was standard fitment as well as a SE7 sticker on the back door.

Most of the earlier SE models seemed to have a SE sticker on it somewhere - not sure what year model yours is??

I haven't come across one with factory cruise yet only V8's my disco was optioned with airbags driver and passenger but was fitted with an after-market cruise control

    Dullbird.

Forgive me, in the UK I drove one with drive by wire cruise like a TD5.
They were not an option here.

My owners handbook says I have a SE Plus which I never knew existed and in the manual it has cruise.

But as you said, no D1's in OZ. They were all aftermarket ones.
