Wow now I'm thinking I should definitely get this done, and all this time I thought my temperature must be okay because the gauge was sitting nicely!?!?!
I've heard guys just take the radiator out and then take it to a place to get rodded and they don't cost too much and they are pretty easy to get out. Can someone run me through how to get it out please...I already did a bit of a search and also looked for "Phillips" posts but didn't turn anything up yet.
Also can someone point me in the direction of getting a temp gauge that will ACTUALLY work so I don't blow my engine.

Haha I was looking at the wrong "Phillip"...I'm just going to smack my head on the keyboard and start over :D
I'm off to Japan tomorrow for a week but I'm going to get the radiator rodded as soon as I get back because that's got me worried now...all this time I thought it was behaving itself because the gauge was sitting nicely. How foolish was I!!!

Stop looks for problems that probably aren't there and just drive you car and enjoy it. The Temp gauge will still give you an indication that things are ok. If it never jumps up to hot when driving around you should still be ok. It's just that when the temp does overheat it just jumps up quickly from normal. Having said that it couldn't hurt to have it done anyway as they are getting on a bit and a good precaution. These cars are not voodoo, you do the same thing as other cars, no worse or better.
The previous own probably just drove the car so you should too. Get use to how it behaves and feels then you will know when somethings not right.

Like I said before, for the sake of $150 or so, get the rad looked at! Also, I now solely rely on the Engine Saver for info ;)
