Well the odds are it is an ignition problem if it happens on both petrol and gas.

Maybe you have some seized open injectors and some plugs are loading from richness.

BUT first i would go through the usual suspects ,as it is all pretty cheap. Plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor.

Also if you have headlights and aircon on while idling for long periods , its likely that alternator output at idle is not matching the draw from the battery and it is slowly sinking in volts. Aircon fans =7amps each, blower another 5-7, headlights about 10 amps. How old is the battery?

Heat soak = crook electrics. Check the plugs for blackness or unusual colour on individual plugs. Check for sparky leaks when its completely dark.

well im running a bosh 500cca no idea of age maybe 1-2yrs old
looking into a new 620cca batt very shortly

plugs and lead would be at most 10-11 months old ngk 8mm petty/gas leads and bps6** plugs

i do now notice a loud tacking sound are the tappets hydrolic? or do you have to set them ya self?

like i said only flutter on petty when super hot and gas is all the time

Then its likely another Lucas coil & amp set is dying. Surprise, that. Could be coil breaking down, try to find a second hand one and swap.

Tappets are hydraulic and will be noisy of your oil pressure is missing, otherwise you could have loose exhaust manifolds or even weak head gaskets. Check manifold bolts, check plugs, do a compression test. Eliminate possibilities one by one. Or find a landy specialist!

i;ll change a few things over the next 2 weeks and see what improvment i get if nothing then i will have to consult a landy bloke

i did a pressure test just before x mas from memory i think it was either 120psi or 130 there wer all close to it
i do know oils is slight down a tad

Definitely check the coil if it's something like this...especially if it shows up a little on petrol and lots on gas. I had a similar situation and we tried replacing leads and plugs only to find out it was the coil all along that was making things hard. It wasn't on a Land Rover and there were none of the Lucas computer parts involved but in basic principle this sounds like a definitely ignition problem and especially that it shows up more when there is more strain on the car...go get that coil checked they are buggers!
