mmm had this one since new its never changed to fourth below 80kph, last one was the same.

OK so it may have corrected a problem that existed all along and only now I'm feeling the way it was meant to be

I would like to modify my shift points (gear changes) too. I was hoping that the PSI chip would do that, but I put it in so fast after I bought the car that I really don't remember how it shifted before the chip went in. In any case, I would still like my shift points lower, and with a lower TC stall speed too.

Right now it upshifts into 4th at 65-70kmph and will stay there down to about 60 on very light throttle. So it sounds like it shifts about like yours did before you swapped the TC out.

Are you sure it's upshifting to 4th at this speed? The torque convertor lock-up clutch engages at just over 80km/h, and you get an obvious drop in revs when this happens.

    Reno,

The up/down shifting maps are stored in the EAT and regrettably cannot be altered. The EAT can be replaced with a Compushift unit to this extent though.

Upgrading the Td5 stock TC does bring the shifting points down a bit as a result of having a lower stall speed & overall better torque transfer. Did this over a year ago, see this write-up Disco Td5 autobox: replacing torque converter

Yes, it stands to logic that if the TC is tighter, the trans will see higher internal rotation speeds at lower engine rpm, so up shift sooner too. Unless of course the EAT is only reading engine rpm and basing its shift points on that. I was a tad surprised by Catch-22's unfortunate results.

Mine will upshift to 4th at around 52-54km/hr on light throttle .... medium to aggressive throttle is around 65.

A "tighter" TC with less slip would be a nice thing

My shift points all seem to be OK, maybe 2nd to 3rd could be at 5km/hr lower (around 37-38km/hr) but I'd prefer to have the TC lockup around 6-8km/hr lower than it does now.

They are my first impressions with my drive home so more driving is required.

But so far, certainly not an upgrade I'd recommend whether you're trying solve vibration issues or not.
The upgrade will improve torque transfer through the box...

Did you reset the adaptive values in the transmission?????

Your results seem at odds with others (and my) experiences...

Less throttle input is required to pull along and the transmission upshifts ever slightly earlier...

Torque Converter lock-up WILL remain unchanged though - it is hard coded in the TCU
