Thread: My dual batt/water/drawer setup

Here are a couple of the setup as tested over a week and a half trip- also with the fridge slide in place. The whole thing worked brilliantly to be honest- all that's left to do is carpet the rest of it and add the aluminium edging to protect it- and then plan how to organise the drawer space most effectively. the deep drawers are actually a bonus- they swallow a lot of stuff, and awkwardly sized things too, such as my gas bottle. The water tanks fill by unclipping the pump hose at a connection just inside the cargo barrier- i fold the passenger seat forward, attach a filler hose, open one valve and fill that tank- then close that valve and open the other and fill that, then unclip the filler hose, reconnect the pump/tap hose and let the pump prime and I have water at the flick of a tap, works really well. I put a bit of rag or towel under the connection to catch the little that dribbles out- no drama. My reservation was about the height of the fridge now that I have a suspension lift as well, but it was fine- I generally can just feel for what I want, or one knee on the tailgate and a peek in does the trick. Will finish up in a day or two, so i'll post up the final pics soon

i meant when unclipping the pump hose to fill- it doesn't leak otherwise.

Whew, all done and after a bit of fine tuning it works well, suits the car I think and achieves what i set out to achieve- a dual battery mount, water tanks, drawers and a fridge slide. It hasn't worked out all that cheap, I reckon I spent around $1000 on bits and pieces and materials. Was great fun to plan and build though and warts and all i'm proud of it, I just wouldn't advise anyone who is time poor to do it! many thanks to everyone else who posted up pics of their own setups, i got ideas from a lot of forum members so cheers for that. I hope this is helpful to anyone planning their own. My top tip is to source materials and hardware from industrial/wholesale typw outlets, I would have saved a couple of hundred if I'd cottoned on to that earlier. Feel free to leave comments whether negative or positive- I'd be interested to hear any/all thoughts

Mate that looks a lot like the ducks testicles....well done mate. You should be stoked with that! I am half way through a cover set up for my LPG tanks and at the ends it will be extended into the 3rd row seat areas (mine is the pov pack) and I will post up about that. Its great to see the D2's with some age on them because people play more with them.
