My dual batt/water/drawer setup

looks good mate! only question is what sort of latch are you using to keep the drawers shut? i assume you are storing recovery equipment in there and when you do eventually get stuck halfway up a hill and you open the rear door to get out the snatch are you going to be knocked off your feet?

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. At the moment im in Mackay, made it here from Melbourne, at the mo my d2 is a three seater with the double rear seat removed and a second spare strapped in place with all my recovery gear and spares inside it- so the drawers have a bunch of food in one and pots/cups etc in the other. The drawer slides are self closing, in that when you push it in it kind of grabs(through a spring loaded mechanism) the last inch and pulls the drawer in, this seems to be enough to hold them shut with the amount of gear i hvae in. My plan was to use ute cover straps (from autobarn etc) if they were coming open. have loved having the drawers on my trip so far

Does anyone know of a good way to bolt down, draw slide systems in the back of a d2??????

First I tried to just screw the fridge slide straight onto/through the carpet but the carpet is too thick and interfered with the running of the slide.
So then I made a false floor from 9mm ply to fit the entire area. Attached the fridge slide to that and bolted it down via the tie down points. Then I made some walls and a shelf which attaches to the barrier at the front. The whole thing is rock solid.

It's changed a bit since these were taken. Have now attached the walls to the slide and lowered the shelf. Fridge is now a snug fit and there's more gap between left wall and storage bin for cables/ropes etc. and an inverter mounted to the barrier behind the fridge. There's also a 120Ah AGM 2nd battery in the left bin.

I did similar to knp. I have a cargo barrier like knp's and bolted down the front of the ply floor (near the barrier) using the two lower tie down bolts of the barrier. See knp's photos. I changed the wavy links to flat bar, too.

For the end near the rear door, I cut a slot into the ply floor just wide enough to allow the hold down loops to poke through, and put a tiny d-shackle through it. Actually, I only did that on one side as I felt 3 hold downs was ok as the storage system was stiff enough and its only taking the upward float, not the whole load of the system.

This way I can remove the rear system in 15 minutes and still have the hold down loops if I want to cart something.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a water bladder that will fit in the right side storage bin? The only ones I've seen are from whitworths marine and the outlets are in the wrong spot or they're the wrong shape etc.

I also heard once that someone was able to put a 20l gerry can style container in one of those bins. Do you reckon that'd work?
