:eek::eek:....Looking at the size of some of those ruts and holes it's not hard to see the cause/problem. Like stated earlier, the important thing is there was no physical damage to yourself or others, commiserations for the car never the less.

Biggin, sorry to hear the bad news.Things can happen soooo quickly, hope things work out.
This was enough for me a few years back & i can still remember it well,& we were very fortunate not to tip it over...it was brand new, scared the **** out of all that was there.
It is a totally different situation than what you were in,& luckily the ruts were only small.
Not long after i picked up a new D2 in 99,i had to reverse down a very steep, long gravel hill.It became one of the scariest things i had done for a while.
What i did, with the guide of one of my brothers who happened to be with us at the time & also had done a lot more of this type of stuff than me,was left the auto in drive.
I allowed the car to inch slowly backwards,& as it tried to turn, that is front coming around, gunned it carefully till it was pointing up the hill again.
Slowly,& carefully we got to the bottom.
It isn't something you want to do again in a hurry:(
Sorry to hear about your damage, its a terrible feeling when you write a car off (hopefully yours isn't a write off).
If it does get written off, you might get lucky and be able to buy it back for very cheap.
Best of luck.
Sorry to hear about the roll over.
HDC in my opinion shouldn't be used as it is too unpredictable. With my auto in manual mode, in low range 1st, I find is the best option for descents. If I want to use the brakes also I would prefer it to be deliberately my choice rather than a computer.
