I am putting new Dobinson Coils and Bilstein Shocks in the D2 on Friday, I was just wondering if there is anything else I should replace at the same time from peoples experience?
The shocks are the extended Bilsteins and the Dobinson Coils are heavy duty 2" extended, they will probably sit slightly higher than a 2" lift until the rear end of the D2 is finished and the winch, dual batteries go in the front.
And I have been trying to work out if I need to extend the brake lines, some previous threads say yes and others say no.
I will be spacing the front crossmember to make sure it does not interfere.

and there are also hard plastic spacers which go between the steel spring seat and spring make sure they still okay as this prevent metal on metal fatigue

Also check the rear ABS sensor wiring. I unclipped mine and re-fastened the wire and was able to get some slack from on top of the chassis. We have more than a 2 inch lift and I didn't have to extend either brake lines or sensors.
You may need to compress the coils a little to get them in though.
On the rear Unclip the Abs sensor and cable tie it a bit lower, I also rebent the brake lines to allow them to drop a bit lower. I made a bracket that bolted into the orignal bolt holes, that I then bolted the brake lines back onto. Spaced the front crossmember lower aswell.
One other thing I did was put some plastic hose I had over the brake line, as after repositioning it I thought that it may have a rubbing issue on the frame.
Get a set of spring compressors-makes the job a whole lot easier if doing yourself. Took me about 8hrs including lunch and smoko breaks.
So the suspension is in, dobinson springs and bilstein shocks.
I ended up with a bit over a 2" lift due to the heavy duty springs and the rear bar etc not being on yet.
My only concern is the shocks are no longer than standard so could have a bit of pressure on them from the heavy duty shocks.
Is anyone actually using the Bilstein 994 and 995 extended shocks compared to the standard length?
I was told by the suspension supplier after I checked on the reason why I was not supplied these that they are to soft due to the valving and that the standard length shocks have been used for years with the longer springs.
