forgot to mention that originally when i activated the cdl everything worked perfectly, tc & hdc all worked and lite up on dash when going up and down rocky situations, just no cdl light, and there are a few threads on here about being able to disingage the tc for soft sand driving, is this beter?

I dont have a CDL light in my D2, as long as I can engage CDL in mud and sand I am happy. CDL works well in sand and mud. Wheelspin elimination is the answer. I dont know why people are saying TC is bad in sand.
I got around to pulling out my hi low lever today and had a good look around at the wires, the hi low switch looks good, one plug was unpluged when connected the dash lights came on, tc, hdc, and cdl, but wouldnt go off, no mater what i did, car on off not in cdl, drive still didn't go out, i found some wires that i thought had been cut (2 wires with elect tape around the ends), thus giving me my problem with lights.
So i took the tape off and this is what i found.

I dont think this is ment to be but i couldn't find any other wires that these would connect to.
Can anyone tell me what these are for so i can restore my dash lights.
There is a switch that activates the light on the dash, if you engage the CDL and the light on the dash doesn't come on, then it's the switch that is faulty OR you need to adjust the cable going to the CDL on the Transfer case.
Of coarse I'm assuming you have a CDL actuator.

That resistor is supposed to be there, its in the CDL wiring circuit. I suggest you tape it up again.
Agree with Redback, the CDL switch is fubar'd...........they are all connected in the factory, and because they are unused for years, they quite often just dont work.
Fit a new one and all should be good. The switch is located DIRECTLY rearwards of where the CDL nipple is.

For no apparent reason the switch on my D2 stopped makind contact.
Replaced it and all was back to normal.
What I did find was that when the light did not shine there seemed to ber a difference in TC.
Was it all in my mind or somthing else?:o
Can I ask what you mean you dont have one ? they all have one, and "if" yours is not working, its VERY risky using the CDL and not knowing if its "in or out"Quote:

There might be some confusion here Craig. The stock D2 (not the D2a) does NOT have Centre Differential Lock - you have high and low range and traction control which is more aggressive in low range. You can retro fit the centre diff lock in these (search for how - even without the internals you can stick in a D1 output housing with the right gear inside as I did) and then you can have the centre diff locked but only for slippery conditions - all gravel, sand, rocks, mud, grass etc otherwise you get tranny wind up which is not sweet at all.Quote:
