Most fleet cars are white cause its non metalic 99% of the time so its cheaper to buy, because they dont want people complaining that someone has black but they have been given metallic green and they really wanted black (ie all white = no arguments) and because white does not need the same upkeep as metalic colours.

For all those blind toyo and pootrol drivers, white has the best visibility on road and you only have to wash white every second year! And it stays cool. Just keep your sun glasses as it can get a lot of glair of the bonnet.
Depends what you define as best for ? To look clean, or easy to keep looking clean, the best colour I have ever had was Tiger Gold. ( irridescent orange ) Did not show the gravel dust or dirt until it was filthy, and it didn't matter if you missed a bit when cleaning. ( still looked clean ! )
My D4 is white, but it is a business vehicle. White is a pretty good compromise. Dark colours look smart, but are a bugger to keep clean. Every speck shows.
An interesting fact on light colours though. If you walk through a carpark on a 40 degree day, and test your hand on the different coloured vehicles, the dark colours are pretty much 3rd degree burn territory, the pale colours are not much better, but you should actual be able to rest your hand briefly on silver or gold. You can however lean on the white car for some time without burning. White is really the only true cool colour. Not sure how the new pearl whites would go. Have to wait until next summer to try them out.

Before I went up to Broome a few years ago, I decided that the 20 year old paint on the Series III could do with a respray. The paint shop I bought the paint from had a bit of trouble getting the colour exactly right. It was a bit brighter orange than the original. I didn't mind because it was only quick dry enamel and I knew it would fade a bit after a few years.
It looked pretty good in the photos I took on the trip. It was a bit like the sort of enhanced colour intensity you get in the sky when you use a Polaroid filter. :)
