Thread: Rubber bushes or Urethane

    Hi, like tyres everyone will have an opinion. My preference is rubber where the bush has to work in more than one plane. By that I mean if the bush is working more than one way, I stay with rubber. I have not used the bushes in the arms you are contemplating, but in my experience the urethane is too hard for this type of application, and will crack if your use includes heavy suspension articulation.
    Looking at the history of your installations, it would seem OE rubber outlasts the options in urethane by quite some margin. I think that pretty much makes your decision for you.
    The vehicle wheel alignment should be checked once you have changed these bushes, and ensured there are no others worn. If you still have the pull to the right, an obvious place to start looking would be the brakes. If they check out ok, take a closer look at your wheel alignment settings, and tyres

    Hi there,
    thanks for your input. When the bushes were really bad it pulled to the left when accelerating hard, and to the right when braking.

    Left rear bush had collapsed, and was changed, steering was aligned, and front bushes as well, because they were from the same batch (if one fails, it's very likely the rest will do the same), the front right one was close to collapsing but still in one piece. They were aftermarket and lasted less than 1,5 years and 15k Kms.

    I did a good try yesterday, accelerating and the truck went in a straight line.
    All ball joints, track rod ends are new.
    I have ordered some new radius arm to chassis bushes, genuine this time, to improve matters next time

    Interesting thread.
    I am about to do shocks all round and contemplating bushes all round.
    Went to the local stealership and was way too much, dont have the quote anymore but around $400 for all bushes.
    the guy at the stealership said that he had to call up each one on the computer becasue the OEM dont come as a kit? is that right? seems contary because others here are saying that they are cheap



    I was then goign to go with Polyurathane bushes that I can get a set for allround from Paddocks in the UK for around GBP65, but it seems that maybe these are not the best?

    I like the idea of goign for a short drive to allow them to settle and then torque them up.

    as for shocks, likely to go with Old Man Emu
