99% of Td5 misfire problems are down to the dreaded oil in the injector/engine harnesses. A relatively easy & cheap fix.
Hi,
This Land rover is on Ebay...
LANDROVER DISCOVERY TD5 (eBay item 110531945655 end time May-19-10 14:32:29 EST)
What do the gurus suggest maybe the problem?
What should I be checking if I go to look at it?
Guessing first question is has it over heated.
Cheers
Chilly

I did wonder if that was the case.
I think I will pop up and have a look tomorrow....working avro's this week.
If you pull the plug and find oil, put it back on, tell them it's a BIG, EXPENSIVE job and offer $2500.
W
Aye,
Thinking $4000 for a second hand engine. $500 delivery. $1500 to fit. Plus get ready for roadworthy...say $1000.
Makes the car worthless...so $2500 is good money for it!!!!
Just a case of checking it over and not letting them see what I may find....plus that being the only reason it is misfiring.
Have a look at the inner guard behind the top of the front right wheel. If there's oil you know the souce of it and probably the cause of the misfire.

might also be a loose pin in the plug on an injector or when its had a previous inspection a pin has been damaged on reassembly...
its still dirt cheap to fix if its the engine side of the harness (replacing the injector harness sorts it) and a little more expensive (bout $300) for the body side of the harness + a lot more time to put it in properly.
worst case (and I havent seen one personally yet) is a failed/ing injector which might cost you $1200 in parts (last time I priced an injector it was $1100)
at the end of the day ,worth it at the price for parts alone but be prepared to drop say $3k on it on top of whatever it costs to sort the "miss" to get the engine up to a known reliable condition.
